In athletics, we call track tests those that are performed within a closed circuit, that is, in a track, which is generally oval in shape, and consists of two straight lines joined at each end by a curve. When we talk about track events, we are talking about the following:
Speed racing :
These are the most spectacular tests, according to the fans, of those included in athletics, the most notable being the 100 meters straight, which is played in a straight line, obtaining the victory the athlete who first crosses the goal with the trunk, not with the head. Below are the speed races that are played on the track.
- 60 meters
- 100 meters
- 200 meters
- 400 meters
Middle distance races:
Middle distance races or half-depth races. Athletes competing in these races must possess, not only great strength and endurance but must also meet a series of technical requirements.
- 800 meters
- 1500 meters
Long distance races:
Also known as long distance races. The athletes participating in these tests have to have great resistance, and most of them are usually thin and of low or medium height.
- 3000 meters
- 5000 meters
- 10000 meters
Hurdles races:
During these tests, in addition to the course, the athletes have to jump 10 hurdles. They must be, in addition to good runners, very flexible. The 100 meters hurdles are basically distinguished from the 110 meters hurdles in which the first one is for women, while in the second it is the men who compete.

Relay races:
These are the only track events in athletics that take place by teams. It is necessary that the athletes have, in addition to speed and strength, good coordination. In all of them, the witness must pass from hand to hand, without being able to be thrown.
