How many players are in volleyball
A volleyball team is made up of 6 players, divided into two lines of three attack and defense. The game is made up of two teams competing through a network in a rectangular field.

The volleyball or volleyball, whose name is derived from the English (volleyball) and also called valonbolea depending on the region in which it is mentioned. This sport consisting of two teams of 6 players playing on a court separated in half by a net. The goal of each team is to get the ball to touch the ground in the opponent’s area.

Composition of a volleyball team

As we have already said, a volleyball team is made up of 6 players on the field, 3 on the front line and 3 behind. The position of the players is generally designated by a number from 1 to 6.

  • Rear right
  • Front right
  • Central front
  • Front left
  • Left rear
  • Rear center

Volleyball positions determine what each player’s role is on the court during a game. Each player has a specific job to do and each position works with partners to make the best possible game.

  • Attackers : The players in the first row (2, 3 and 4) are players who can block the opponent and attack the ball in the attack zone.
  • Defense : The players in the back row (1, 5, and 6) are players who play defense by digging the opponent’s attacks and attacking the ball behind the line of attack.
  • Central : they are players 3 and 6, they are also the highest in the team to meet a better block. They are not very strong in defense, so they are often replaced by the libero when they lose their serve.
  • Left back : Players 4 and 5. They are the most dynamic in a game: they block, attack, receive and defend.

Players turn clockwise on the court after winning the rally, after the opponent’s serve.

External batter

The outside hitter plays in the front row on the left side of the court (4) and is generally the main batting position. You must have good control of the ball and be a good hitter and blocker.

Intermediate blocker

The center blocker plays in the first row in the center of the court (3) and is the main blocker. Your goal is to stop the opponent’s offense either by preventing the ball from getting close or by helping passers-by by slowing down with a block. An expert medium can read the opponent’s setter well and is fast enough to go from one end of the court to the other to block the ball.

The opposite batter plays in the front row on the right side of the court (2). This is the backup hitter, as the position is a little more difficult for the setter to configure. He is responsible for blocking against the opponent’s external hitter, or lead batter.

Setter or setter

The setter job is the creator of each game and the one that runs the team offense. Play the right front or right rear position. Usually, he takes the second ball or what is the same, the touch after the first pass. Then he tries to place the ball at just the right height so that a batter can drive the ball into the opponent’s court.

The libero plays in the center and is usually the player with impeccable ball control. He receives most of the services, they dig most of the punches and pass them to the setter. This position has other rules, wear a shirt of a different color than the rest of the team, can replace any player on the court, who is generally a player in the back row.
