Athletics is considered to be the oldest organized sport in the world. It is composed of various categories, which were practiced in ancient Greece no less than 2800 years ago.
The disciplines of athletics can be grouped into the groups that we relate below.
Depending on several factors, we find different types of careers. Thus, if we take into account the distances they range from 50 to 10,000 meters. It can also be considered from the age of the participants, then divided into young, secondary, university, amateur or professional.
Within the races we also find variants such as the hurdles jump, which is characterized by the fact that the athletes, during the course, alternate between running and jumping fences. Or the relay race, in which four teams participate, whose members run a part of the race passing the baton to another teammate, who will continue in his place the test.
This discipline consists in the launch, by the athletes, of different heavy objects in order to achieve the greatest distance. Depending on the object in question, there is the throwing of weight, the throwing of a discus, the throwing of a hammer or the throwing of a javelin.
As for the jump, there are four disciplines that include, consisting of the long jump, the triple jump, the high jump or the pole vault.
There are a number of disciplines, within athletics, that consist of a combination formed by others. In this section you can include decathlon, pentathlon and heptathlon, each of them, as we can deduce by name, with a different number of tests. They usually combine races, jumps and throws, and their duration usually lasts two days.
